What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — your computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work as expected, to remember your preferences between visits, and to give website owners a general picture of how people use their site.

Cookies are not programmes and cannot run code or carry viruses. They simply store a small amount of text that the website can read when you return. Different cookies last for different lengths of time: some disappear the moment you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain on your device for a set period (persistent cookies).

You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, as described further down this page.

Cookies We Use

We use a small number of cookie categories, described below. Only essential cookies are active by default. All others require your consent.

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services that we use. These providers have their own privacy and cookie policies:

We do not use social media tracking pixels or advertising network cookies.

Cookie Duration

Cookies remain on your device for varying lengths of time depending on their type:

Cookie Type Typical Duration Notes
Essential (consent record) 12 months Stores your cookie preference so you are not asked again on every visit.
Analytics (Google Analytics) Up to 26 months Standard GA4 retention period. Data is anonymised.
Session cookies Until browser closes Temporary and deleted automatically when you close your browser tab or window.
Preference cookies Up to 12 months Remember settings you have chosen to avoid repeating them each visit.
